Sasha or Giniobili?

image

This post may not be copied without giving credit. This post is by Remix Concepts

I came across this forum, and there most of the people think that it was Ginobili's injury that caused him to ill perform in the games. I completely disagree with most of them, I think Sasha is a great defender and a three point threat. I think he really did shut down Ginobili, and distracted him so much with his pesky moves combined with his flops, Sasha completely took Ginobili out of the game and did his job with efficiency.

This popped a couple questions in my mind, Is Sasha better then Ginobili? Is Ginobili overrated?

My final answer to the first question is that Sasha is better then Ginobili. Sasha, unlike Ginobili, have been consistent the whole season. He has been knocking three pointers with more efficiency then any other player, also showed no hesitance in playoffs, unlike the so-called best three pointer in Jason Kapono. Ginobili on the other hand have been in and out of Spurs' play, he sure has a better ability then Sasha in driving to the basket, but he is not capable of putting such energy as Sasha on the defensive end, and then come back on the offensive end and knock down shots.

Take a look at the Stats:

Sasha Vujacic
Los Angeles Lakers
Position: G
Height: 6-7 Weight: 205
From: Slovenia

2007-08 Statistics
PPG 8.8
RPG 2.1
APG 1.0
SPG 0.5
BPG 0.1
FG% 0.454
FT% 0.835
3P% 0.437
MPG 17.8
Manu Ginobili
San Antonio Spurs
Position: G
Height: 6-6 Weight: 205
From: Argentina

2007-08 Statistics
PPG 19.5
RPG 4.8
APG 4.5
SPG 1.5
BPG 0.4
FG% 0.460
FT% 0.860
3P% 0.401
MPG 31.0

Now the stats clearly go against my opinions but I am talking about the consistency, the improvement, the stamina, the liability each team sees in them.

Anyways to answer the second question, Is Gibobili overrated? I think so. Everyone calls him the soul of San Antonio Spurs, but that guy is an injury prone, not a liable defender, in and out of the Spurs offence. Now I am not saying this guy doesn't give his all and gets the job done, he sure do get the job done, but that doesn't mean we give him as much attention as we do. He is just another role player, one of the very best ones, but I wouldn't call him a leader.

How to be successful at Rambhai.com

Hello, for those of you who are not aware of www.rambhai.com , it is a social bookmarking website powered by pligg.

image Well I joined this website and this great friendly community about two months ago, my main reason to join was to promote bollytheater, a blog that I used to have. Two months back I just cared about getting 12 votes per story(you need 12 votes for it to be featured on homepage). Therefore I used to share my page's link with my instant messaging friends, and used to plead them to vote for my stories.

Now just couple days back a friend of mine asked me to give him the link so he can vote for my stories, so I do as he wished. The next momment he gave me smilies representing how shocked he was to see rizzy(my user name) everywhere. The next momment he asks me "How were you able to get such success at Rambhai? I found this question an interesting one and thought why not write an entry on it.

Following are five ways to be successful on rambhai.

1. Only submit interesting content. Try to avoid submitting movie links, and download torrents. And when you submit, submit a detailed entry.

2. Commenting is the biggest attribute you need in order to become a leader at rambhai. Make sure you comment on each and every single story of yours. Do no say" check this story out". You have already read the submitted story so why not give your own opinion or ocmment on it. This will mean a discussion under the story/blog/url you are promoting. And trust me, there are enough leaders on this site who are always looking to discuss. Comment on other people's stories as well. Join discussions others are discussing upon and give your say on it. Let me make it easier to understand, see rambhai as a forum in which you share and discuss.

3. Vote. Vote for other's stories. Try to follow two or three people that you always follow on that site and always vote upon their stories. This way you will most likely guarantee those couple votes to your story. My recommendation is, choose one leader's stories that you vote upon, and chose a couple or several not so popular people, because that would mean you have support from both the popular people and the newbies of this site.

4. Make relationships. Be mature on this site, don't be a jerk, and behave well, even comfort a few users. Randomly give a comment like " I love your blog" or "damn your blog have a nice look" or "you always submit nice stories" on someone's story. This way you will have them voting for your stories, visit your blog, thank on your stories, and whenever someone comments it is most likely to end up in a discussion.

5. Get your story published. If you do all of this, you will most definitely have each and every story of your submissions published.

What Next?

If you are from rambhai, share your tips and suggestions in comments.

Man admits having sex with 1,000 cars

A man who claims to have had sex with 1,000 cars has defended his "romantic" feelings towards vehicles.

Edward Smith, 57 year old, image who lives with his current "girlfriend" – a white Volkswagen Beetle named Vanilla, insisted that he was not "sick" and had no desire to change his ways.

"I appreciate beauty and I go a little bit beyond appreciating the beauty of a car only to the point of what I feel is an expression of love," he said.

"Maybe I'm a little bit off the wall but when I see movies like Herbie and Knight Rider, where cars become loveable, huggable characters it's just wonderful.

"I'm a romantic. I write poetry about cars, I sing to them and talk to them just like a girlfriend. I know what's in my heart and I have no desire to change."

"I'm not sick and I don't want to hurt anyone, cars are just my preference."

He claims to have no interest in men, women, or any living things but the cars, which fantastically amuse him.

"As far as women go, they never really interested me much. And I'm not gay.”

Not done without Rizzy's take on this.

Hilarious, I mean what else can I say. This fool seems to have no problem and has no desire to change himself. People are people man, but I also understand his point of view. Maybe he really does have an affection towards cars, and that is okay, having sex with them is okay as well, but not getting a response during the act and still be satisfied is amazing to me. Oh well let me say nonsense to me.

Real Life Moving Transformer

moz-screenshot-14
Oh gosh another one of my friend sent me this strange email of a "transformer wannabe" tractor from the Russia's streets. I said another, because I have already done two strange posts like these. You can also send me pictures or videos like this and I'll post it on the blog if I like it. My email address if you do not know by now, is remixconcepts@gmail.com This made me crack up and in fact me and my friend talked about this for like 45 minutes. As I was chatting with him I went on youtube and looked up "transformed tractor" and I actually found a clip of this very tractor.

Is Anushka Sharma the leading Lead Heroine of Bollywood

image image

Yeah when I saw her pictures I had the same reaction as you are having. Whoooo this girl is a beauty. Anushka Sharma is a nineteen year old model from Bangalore who will debut her film in a wide known film organization of India in Yash Raj Films, beside the biggest super star of India in Shahrukh Khan. The movie has been titled “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”.

Chopra said that “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” will go on the floors May 16 and will hit theatres worldwide on Dec 12.

Not done without Rizzy's take on this.

So let's fix this whole issue. Starring along side Shahrukh Khan is a huge thing in Indian entertainment. And with age as young as 19, it is easy to predict that she will have a better future then rising Prachi, also 19 years of age, in Indian television industry. We all know what happened to Rani Mukherjee, Preety Zinta, and Deepika, after starring along side Shahrukh Khan, and I think the same will happen for this young talent, but I think she will be better then all of the previous ones, because not only she will have beauty she will show great dedication to her work, and take this opportunity greatly. Also it is a Yash Raj Film, which means a lot of money, glamour, controversies, and rumors, coming her way, the way she handles them will bring a better picture of hers upon the reporters, editors, and writers of media. Another benefit going her way is that in a Yash Raj Films, even actresses have a chance to show off there abilities along with the usual superstars in Actors of Bollywood.

What next?

What do you think of this girl? Isn't she preety? Is she good enough to lead Bollywood in actresses? Will she live up to the potential Yash Raj Films saw in her? What do you think this opportunity will bring for her?

Fave Five Forum Alternatives To MovieForumz.com

What was MovieForumz?

MovieForumz was a site in which users contributed links which provided free media, movies, music, news, sports, and other videos online for free. Unfortunately this great site has been deleted, sold, hacked, who knows. Well now people look for alternative clones of MovieForumz to get their PC media for free.

I have been receiving a many mails upon the delete of MovieForumz, because I used to promote this with all of my friends and the people who used my blog on Bollytheater(which I deleted due to my studies).

Is MovieForumz Gone :( ? by danny

My life is so dull without MovieForumz. by Maheen

Where can I watch movies now? by John

and on and on....

Good news for all of you. I found Five new forums similar to MovieForumz and you may register for free, no payments, and it is the same good environment as MovieForum

image QuickSilverScreen is even better then MovieForumz, with a community of more then 311,360 members as of right now. It is a great community, in fact I have tried it and it is awesome. People post videos very instantly and also if you request a video you will get that request accommodated, either someone will upload it or give you link. This forum only has one negative, it does not provide links to Bollywood movies and Japanese movies. But otherwise this site literally rocks.

Vote For your favorite Movie Forumz Alternative.

image Movie-Forumz wow. The name says it all doesn't it. Well this is an absolute clone of MovieForumz with a rising community of 72,978. It has almost everything, from shows, to videos, to latest movies, to all kinds of videos. It also has a large community in 72,978. But again no luck for Indian browsers, this forum also does not provide Indian Movies online.

image Free-tvonpc is a great forum with almost all the categories like MovieForumz, but they also have a really cool feature the call, "Free Videos Forums Navigation" which includes categories like Sexy Videos, Fight Videos, Sports Videos, and many more. This site also has a huge community in 57,560 as of right now, and is rapidly growing. Unfortunately It does not give Bollywood Movies Online, so sorry for my Indian users.

image When I first discovered this forum site I literally cracked up. Because this site uses the word Tube. Anyway TubeZoom is a great site, in fact it is my consideration of the best movie forum website after MovieForumz. This site has everything MovieForumz had and is much more clean looking then MovieForumz and the forums I recommended above. And a good news to Indians, this site has a Bollywood section. This site also has a Japanese Movie section. Check it out this one is preety cool, clean, and with a community of 44,776 and is constantly rising.

image Bedroom Media has only 28,018 but is rapidly growing. This site also have all the features of Movie Forumz including Bollywood movies. Guys most of the videos you see online, are all uploaded thanks to great users, volunteers, admins, and moderators of this community. These people are hyperactive. They have more threads then Tubezoom and Free-Tvonpc. They have almost all the movies including all in 2008.

What Next?

If you like this blog and post, show us some love by subscribing to us. And If you guys find a forum with bigger community then submit the link in the comment and I will put them in the categories above. Also share this with your friends and on social bookmarking sites. Typecast - Will You Ever Learn [Perfect Song For Lovers]

This song is for all of us nerds, all of us 14-17 year old people, especially boys. When we are not buffed and get obsessed about that one girl, who is tall, hot, and cute looking, but I just can't go and talk to her.

It is also for people who commit themselves to someone and do not get the wanted attention or results. It is also for people who socialize on everything except they are so intimidated when it comes to talking to that girl, or telling her your attraction towards her.

Discovered New traces of Dinosaurs.

Dinosaur footprints made 150 million years ago in the bedrock of what is now Yemen are the first to be discovered in the Arabian Peninsula, say scientists. The two separate trackways were made by a herd of 11 sauropods, and a lone two-legged plant-eating dinosaur belonging to the ornithopod family. They went unnoticed for so long because they were covered by rubble and debris. The fossil record in the area is very sparse, with only a handful of dinosaur remains known to science.

A Yemeni journalist stumbled upon the first set of impressions in the village of Madar north of the capital Sana’a. They were later classified as belonging to an ornithopod, a large, common, two-legged dinosaur that flourished from the Late Triassic Period to the Late Cretaceous Period. In 2006, a geologist at Sana’a University in Yemen made a further discovery - a set of round and elephant-like footprints from a different dinosaur family, the giant four-legged long-necked sauropods. Dr Anne Schulp of the Maastricht Museum of Natural History in the Netherlands went out to Yemen to help in the investigation.

He said the tracks were "beautifully preserved". "The nice thing about the sauropod tracks is that we’ve got a herd of them, 11 individuals all walking in the same direction," Dr Schulp told BBC News. "It’s actually a group consisting of different-sized animals, so we’ve got old ones and we’ve got some younger dinosaurs as well, so different age-groups of dinosaurs were living together here.

" The sauropod trackway has been preserved by geologists Only a few dinosaur fossils have been reported so far from the Arabian Peninsula, including isolated bones from Oman and possible fragments of a long-necked dinosaur from Yemen. "It’s the first time we’ve found dinosaur trackways in the Arab Peninsula so it really is a first," said Dr Schulp.

Quitting smokers act like flocks of birds

Teenagers are often pressured into lighting up their first cigarette by their friends, but a new study finds that total strangers persuade smokers to quit.

Whether you smoke depends not only on your friends and family, but also on the habits of two additional degrees of separation - your friends’ friends’ friends.

"In a very deep way, people’s smoking cessation decisions resemble flocking of birds," says Nicholas Christakis, a social scientist at Harvard Medical School in Boston who recorded the smoking habits of 12,000 people over 32 years to understand how social networks influence smoking. "The entire flock moves as a whole."

Targeting anti-smoking campaigns at loose social networks such as schools and neighbourhoods, rather than individuals, could help cut smoking rates, he says.

Six degrees of smoking
In 1948, the US National Institutes of Health launched the Framingham Heart Study, an effort to uncover risk factors for heart disease, stroke and other illnesses. The study tracked the health of thousands of people, and later their children and grandchildren.

To help hunt down participants for follow-ups, the study’s administrators kept meticulous records of their families, doctors, even friends. Enough of these contacts turned out to be participants themselves that Christakis and colleague James Fowler, of the University of California in San Diego, could mine those records to build a web of 12,067 people, entwined by tens of thousand of connections.

Unsurprisingly, smokers mingled with other smokers. Their friends were 61% more likely to smoke and their friends of friends were 29% likelier to puff. Knowing the friend of a smoker’s friend still meant you were 11% likelier to smoke, compared to the general population.

But as smoking rates in the US dropped from 37% in 1970 to 22% in 2003, those links pushed smokers from the centre of social networks to the peripheries - increasingly disconnected from abstainers.

"Whole groups of smokers are quitting at once, it’s not just isolated individuals blinking out," Christakis says. "It’s whole interconnected groups simultaneously dropping out."

College-educated people were more swayed by their non-smoking peers, and more likely to have friends who don’t smoke. "Educated individuals are both more influential and more influenced," Christakis says.

Brain Machinery Identified

The brain centers triggered by a betrayal of trust have been identified by researchers, who found they could suppress such triggering and maintain trust by administering the brain chemical oxytocin. The researchers said their findings not only offer basic insights into the neural machinery underlying trust; the results may also help in understanding the neural basis of social disorders such as phobias and autism.

In their experiments, the researchers asked volunteer subjects to play two types of games--a trust game and a risk game. In the trust game, subjects were asked to contribute money, with the understanding that a human trustee would invest the money and decide whether to return the profits, or betray the subjects’ trust and keep all the money. In the risk game, the subjects were told that a computer would randomly decide whether their money would be repaid or not.

The subjects also received doses of either the brain chemical oxytocin (OT) or a placebo via nasal spray. They chose OT because studies by other researchers had shown that OT specifically increases people’s willingness to trust others.

During the games, the subjects’ brains were scanned using functional magnetic resonance imaging. This common analytical technique involves using harmless magnetic fields and radio waves to map blood flow in brain regions, which reflects brain activity.

The researchers found that--in the trust game, but not the risk game--OT reduced activity in two brain regions: the amygdala, which processes fear, danger and possibly risk of social betrayal; and an area of the striatum, part of the circuitry that guides and adjusts future behavior based on reward feedback.

Baumgartner and colleagues concluded that their findings showed that oxytocin affected the subjects’ responses specifically related to trust.

"If subjects face the nonsocial risks in the risk game, OT does not affect their behavioral responses to the feedback. Both subjects in the OT group and the placebo group do not change their willingness to take risks after the feedback. In contrast, if subjects face social risks, such as in the trust game, those who received placebo respond to the feedback with a decrease in trusting behavior while subjects with OT demonstrate no change in their trusting behavior although they were informed that their interaction partners did not honor their trust in roughly 50% of the cases."

The researchers also wrote that "our insights into the neural circuitry of trust adaptation, and oxytocin’s role in trust adaptation, may also contribute to a deeper understanding of mental disorders such as social phobia or autism that are associated with social deficits. In particular, social phobia (which is the third most common mental health disorder) is characterized by persistent fear and avoidance of social interactions."

High Temperature superconductors

Superconductors can convey more than 150 times more electricity than copper wires because they don’t restrict electron movement, the essence of electricity. But to do this, the materials have to be cooled below a very low, so-called, transition temperature, which often makes them impractical for widespread use. Now for the first time, scientists have found that in addition to chemical manipulation, the superconducting state can be induced by high pressure in so-called high-temperature superconductors. The discovery, published in the May 30, 2008, issue of Physical Review Letters, opens a new window on understanding and harnessing these miracle materials.

The early superconductors had to be cooled to extremely low (below 20 K or -423° F) temperatures. But in the 1980s scientists discovered a class of what they call high-temperature superconductors made of ceramic copper oxides, called cuprates. They found that at temperatures as high as about 135 K, or -216º F, these materials transition into superconductors. Understanding how they work and thus how they can be manipulated to operate at even higher temperatures is currently one of the most important unsolved problems in physics--a holy grail for many.

"In cuprate superconductors the atoms are arranged in a layered structure," explained co-author of the study, Viktor Struzhkin at the Carnegie Institution’s Geophysical Laboratory. "When the material goes into the superconducting state, changes occur in the copper-oxide planes, the electron spins behave differently, the vibrational energy is altered, the charges move differently, and more."

Another co-author of the study, Alexander Goncharov, elaborated: "Over the years scientists have found that the transition temperature can be increased with a specific amount of ’doping,’ which is the addition of charged particles--either negatively charged electrons or positively charged holes. We wanted to see the effects of high pressure on one bismuth-based high-temperature cuprate (Bi1.98.Sr2.06Y0.68Cu2O8+´). Pressure has the added bonus that it can be applied gradually, like tuning a radio. We gradually tuned in to the superconductivity and could watch what happened over a broad range of pressures."

The scientists observed the subatomic effects on the material of pressures close to 350,000 times the atmospheric pressure at sea level (35 GPa) using a diamond anvil cell to squeeze the sample and specialized techniques, Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction, to measure the changes.

"21 GPa was the magic number, or critical pressure," remarked Tanja Cuk, the lead author and a student at Stanford University, who carried out this work as part of her Ph.D. thesis research. "By compressing the structure, we were able to observe changes in six different physical properties. But even more exciting, the changes were similar to those observed when the material has been doped to its optimal level. This means that the critical pressure is likely related to doping. Plus, by finding that pressure can be used instead of temperature and doping, we’ve found an entirely new approach to studying what’s behind superconducting properties of high-Tc superconductors."

Why do we close our eyes when we sneeze?

Question

In Anatomy and Physiology, someone asked a very interesting but brief question, 'why do we close our eyes when we sneeze".

Answer

My teacher made an educated guess by saying it is just a reflex. Turned out that he was right, the medical term for a sneeze is the “sternutatory reflex”. Below is a detailed explanation. Basically the air pressure which is set in the process of sneeze is what makes our eyes automatically shut.

Technically, a sneeze is produced when an irritant contacts the nasal mucosa, which in turn stimulates the trigeminal nerve, which in turn stimulates the pons and medullai of the brain, which in turn sets off additional nerve reactions, and so on. During a sneeze, tremendous stress is placed on the body. Considerable air pressure is place upon the eyes. This pressure is not enough to pop your eyes out of your head or even make them bulge out, but enough to make your eyes feel uncomfortable from the added pressure. http://www.theregister.co.uk/.../

Imagine life without People

There have been several books, documentaries, webumentaries, and even a Hollywood movie in "I Am Legend" relating and discussing this topic which encourages people to imagine world without people.

A new documentary by The History Channel premiered after the success of "I Am Legend" called Life After People. It takes you right up to 10,000 years after extinction and shows that within 1000 years there would be very few signs of life from this age.

Analysts give detailed explanations as to what will vanish and things that still will be in existence, like the Hoover Dam in the US, which is expected to be still standing 10,000 years later.

They also clear the debate of 2012 as the end of life, which is believed by many religious individuals and even communities.

I have not personally seen the documentary but I sure will be seeing it, you can view this documentary online thanks to someone who uploaded this on Google Video.

Vince Young Likes to get Naked

This is hilarious to me. Vince Young being naked, and hanging out with bunch of stupid dudes shows a lot of immaturity and personally I don't have a problem with that, but when you are as young and talented as Vince Young, hanging out with these kinds of people and even a picture showing yourself naked are factors that lead up to the downfall of your upcoming star type career.

My Favorite IPL Cheerleader

I do not know her and I do not know what team she plays for, I am saying that so you don't label me as bias. The only reason for my interest in her apart from her looks would be that I like Philippines, Japanese, and Chinese girls the most. [008_sexy_nfl_cheerleader-724182.jpg]

Woman sat dead in front of TV for 42 years

I just came across this great story on RamBhai, and at first I laughed but then when I start to read the whole thing on Daily Records I started to pay a bit more attention and took it seriously. But man for 42 years, I mean the neighbors and the society around didn't even attempt to break into the apartment and actually have some concerns about it.

The Rofl Part

But when I first read the the headline, I was like "she must have been a huge fan of the show despite her having high definition and only a black and white television.

Let's Get Back to The Story

But why no one managed to check on an apartment with no activity for 42 years or check on a neighbor is simply amazing. That makes me think why anyone didn't come to see why her bills were not being paid, or why her family didn't give her a visit. This is like the ice man mystery. Was the time during war, was she a Jewish person who was hiding in this apartment, those were a couple questions randomly popped in my head while reading this. Then I searched a bit more on Google. And this sure was not during the Holocaust, because she supposedly died in 1966, when the Jewish were no longer under Hitler's wrath, but then I thought what if she did not knew about it, but then I discovered that she was not  Jewish at first place. She was a Croatian.

Then I looked more and found another article from my favorite CNN and they say that she was mummified. Now even CNN has let me down and I am just grimly poetically puzzled and I just want some pictures connecting to this story. But I am one of those people who never give up, so I keep searching and came across about 4 forums, and many other links providing the same story over and over, I even read all the comments but no luck, no body provided any pictures of Golik, the women's name.

Residents of her loft building in downtown Zagreb had broken into Golik's flat after deciding that the apartment should belong to them, and not to her. Startled by the remains in bed, they called police. CNN

THE remains of a woman have been found sitting in front of her TV - 42 years after she was reported missing.

Hedviga Golik, who was born in 1924, had apparently made herself a cup of tea before sitting in her favourite armchair in front of her black and white television.

Croatian police said she was last seen by neighbours in 1966, when she would have been 42 years old.

Huckabee makes fun of Obama

"During a speech before the National Rifle Association convention Friday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky, former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee — who has endorsed presumptive GOP nominee John McCain — joked that an unexpected offstage noise was Democrat Barack Obama looking to avoid a gunman," CNN Associate Political Editor Rebecca Sinderbrand reports at the cable network's Political Ticker.

Huckabee shows immaturity by saying his narrow views in front of a televised audience. His vulgar slights roll off his tongue so effortlessly. Now I sure am pro Obama, but I am here speaking without bias, wait until you read the quote.

"That was Barack Obama, he just tripped off a chair, he's getting ready to speak," said the former Arkansas governor, to audience laughter. "Somebody aimed a gun at him and he dove for the floor."

How to scare the shit out of America and make them do anything

The Rise of Neoconservatism to power in America is documented in the BBC’s series “The Power of Nightmares”. All the NeoCon myths exposed and the obvious exploitation of American values in to twisted patriotism. Great information on the Fathers and minions of Neoconservatism, Strauss, Wolfowitz and Kristol. Basing their entire theory on failing liberalism and personal independence being the cause for the people’s negative reaction to Government policies. Deducing that the only way to give America it’s “True” course was to “Invent” good and evil so the country would unite in a common cause — a fabricated War against evil.

Watch Jannat (2008) Online For Free

This is by Remix Concepts
Music Director: Pritam Chakraborty
Director: Kunal Deshmukh
Producer: Mukesh Bhatt
Cast: Emran Hashmi, Esha Deol, Sameer Kochhar, Sonal Chauhan

This Movie created a big buzz, and I think Mukesh Bhatt did a great job in making this movie elite. His visit to premier this movie in Pakistan was a very smart one. He is my favorite Indian director, because he knows how to hype up the movie and is great at getting attentio requires for a movie to be a hit.
Emraan Hashmi stars in the Mahesh Bhatt film based on the murder conspiracy of former cricketer and coach Bob Woolmer. The actor plays a bookie in the film. Sonal Chauhan, a new girl, will be seen opposite Emraan. Directed by Kunal Deshmukh, the film also stars include Samir Kochhar, Vishal Malhotra and a Pakistani actor Javed Sheikh. Catch Emraan in the stills of Jannat, a treat for his fans! Link
The above quote was a synopsis of the movie from FilmiCafe. I think the movie involving cricket and economy is huge at this point, because both Ipl and Money and stocks are on the hype in India, and a movie displaying the consequences of these things would be or at least should be a great hit.

Hard Core Factz of Environment- StoryOfStuff

I just recently watched a film "Story of Stuff "narrated by Anie Leonard. It took me on a journey through our consumer-driven cuture from extraction to production, distribution, consumption and disposal. After watching it I thought I should consider taking out the interesting facts out of this movie and share it with you guys. In this movie she mostly cares about talks about how many resources the Americans take up.

  • 1/3 Amount of earth's natural resources that have been mined, chopped, blown-up, or otherwise extracted in the past three decades alone.
  • 5 percentage of earth's population living in the U.S, yest Americans use up 30 percent of the world's resources and create 30 percent of the world's waste.
  • 3 to 5 number of extra planets we would need if everyone consumed at the American rates.
  • 75 percent of global fisheries that are finished at, or beyond, capacity.
  • 100,000 number of synthetic chemicals used in commerce today, many of which wind up in our bodies (human breast milk is the food at the top of the food chain with the highest level of many toxic contaminates).
  • 30 percentage of kids in the Congo who have dropped out of school to mine metals, the majority os which end up in cheap and disposable electronic products brought by Americans.
  • 99 Percentage of stuff we harvest, mine, transport or otherwise produce that is trashed within six months.
  • 3000 number of advertisements targeted at American consumer each day.
  • 4.5 pounds of garbage each American makes each day, twice as much as we made 30 years ago.

I personally do not really emphasis too much on green, saving the environement, or recycling, because I simply do not have time. But I have been reading about these stuff, because I want to know why so much money is being put in organizations that are trying to save the environment, heck they themselves go home with a salary of 5 to 6 thousands and buy all kinds of consumer goods. Annie Leonard, in this movie gave a long example of how she was about to buy a radio worth 4 dollars and 99 cents, and she start to think how could it possibly cost only 5 bucks, she then went on giving so many reason that make your mind think and even maybe discourage buying electronics. Heck she might have bought a good camera to provide us an HD documentary. Four years back watching this video would have disuaded me, but I am a econoomist now, and I do appreciate what these people are trying to do by telling people to emphasis on enviroment and the climate, but consumerism is much more important then concerning about enviroment. She gave a very interesting example on how President Eisenhower and his staff's biggest concern was, "how to encourage consumerism", Annie believes instead of this a President's biggest concern should be how to provide justice, how to provide health care, and some other things, she concluded this objection of consumerism with the example of George Bush encouraging people to go out there and shop. Well little miss Annie, how will you be able to get health care if you don't have the whole nation contributing to the economy and lifting the country's financial status.

To see the whole movie, go check out The Story Of Stuff website.

Give your opinion on this and don't be hesitant to go against mine.

From Sadlupur Village to Europe's richest man Lakshmi Mittal From India

The 45.0 Billion Dollar man.

Lakshmi Narayan Mittal, born in Sadulpur village on June 15, 1950. In his early days he lived with an extended family of 20 and in a house of bare concrete floors, slept on rope beds and cooked on an open fire in the brickyard in a house built by his grandfather.

The family later on moved to Kolkata, a city in India, where his father, Mohan Mittal became partners with a steel company. In Kolkata he was able to get an education at St. Xavier's College with a Bachelor of commerce degree in Buisness and Accounting in 1969. He began his career working in the family's steel making business in India and in 1976, Lakshmi Mittal founded Mittal Steel Company. He split from his father and two younger brothers in 1994 and moved on to United Kingdoms. Mittal's family never spoke publicly about the reason that caused the split between him, his father and his brother.

In United Kingdom, he set out to establish himself one of the richest man in the world and owner of the largest producer of steel, ArcelorMittal. In the last few years Mittal Steel has made a number of acquisitions, buying up a network of steel producers in former communist countries including Kazakhstan, Romania and Ukraine, and pushing into the U.S. in 2004 with the $4.5 billion purchase of International Steel Group. Today, Mittal Steel is the only truly global steel producer in the world with operations on 14 countries, spanning 4 continents.

Lakshmi Mittal is also known for his opulence. In 2003, he acquired the Kensington mansion, said to be the world's most expensive home, from Formula One racing's Bernie Ecclestone for £70 million ($128 million). His daughter Vanisha's $50 million wedding bash is touted as the most expensive wedding of the 20th century.

In March 2008, Mittal was reported to be the 4th wealthiest person in the world by Forbes Magazine (up from 61st richest in 2004) up one place since a year ago. The Mittal family owns 44% of Arcelor Mittal, the world's largest steel company.

Laxmi Mittal is not the only Indian to make the Forbes richest billionaires list, in fact there are three more Indians in top ten, with Mukesh Ambani at 5, as the richest Indian living in India, followed by Anil Ambani at 6, and KP Singh at 8.

Why don't we think of breathing?

Question

I always wanted to know that, How come we don't think, and have nay concern about breathing, and if we don't think of breathing, then how come we breath constantly. Well I asked this question my Anatomy and Physiology class and my teacher's response made me seem stupid, because it was an obvious one.

Answer

We do not think or emphasis too much on how we breath, and when we breath, and are we breathing or not, because breathing is controlled by our Autonomic Nervous System.

The autonomic nervous system (ANS) (or visceral nervous system) is the part of the peripheral nervous system that acts as a control system, maintaining homeostasis in the body. Source

A Search Engine better than Google?

A new and unique search engine based on Wiki articles to fight against the world's 1400 already search engines, and also to battle against the top three search engines in Google, Yahoo, and Live Search.

Google's search engine works by building a vast index of web pages, via automated "spiders" that crawl through billions of web pages a year. However this represents only a fraction of the enormous, sprawling internet, and the index can never be entirely up to date.

Yahoo! search and (despite its name) Microsoft's Live search work the same way.

PowerSet is fundamentally different. It does everything the other three engines do but it adds sense of Open Source and enable people to interact with the computer technology. It is a San Francisco based search engine company. Powerset allows you to enter keywords, phrases, or questions, and in responce it will provide you with legitimate results that relate to the meaning of your question and sometimes the answer it self. Powerset is currently limited to searching Wikepedia, but they have plans in place to aggregate other information bases in the near future

My Experience browsing through Powerset.

I had great experience using this new search engine. I experimented its features several times, and so far it did live up to what they claim it is. I highly recommend this to students, who can simply ask a question on any topic, and usually they will be able to get this answer, or get the links and summaries relating to your question. it even highlights the answer for you, not just the keywords you put in their search engines.

Booming Medical Tourism - India Pride

For Indian doctors, western shores could be greener. But for an increasing number of foreign patients, Indian hospitals are fast becoming their first choice. Over 1.5 lakh medical tourists travelled to India in 2002 alone, bringing in earnings of $300 million.

Since then, the number of such travellers has been increasing by at least 25% every year. A CII-McKinsey report projects that earnings through medical tourism would go up to $2 billion by 2012.

Most patients visiting India are from SAARC countries, but an increasing number of NRIs settled in the US and the UK have also been availing of healthcare services in India. The Planning Commission holds superior quality of medical service coupled with the low cost of surgeries responsible for making the country one of the most attractive destinations for medical value travel. In its latest high-level report, the commission has done a cost comparison of various medical procedures.

Released by Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia on Wednesday, the report reveals that while a heart bypass surgery would cost a patient $6,000 in India, the same surgery would cost the person $7,894 in Thailand, $10,417 in Singapore, $23,938 in the US and $19,700 in Britain.

A heart valve replacement surgery would cost patients $10,000 in Thailand, $12,500 in Singapore, $200,000 in the US and $90,000 in Britain. In India, it would cost just $8,000. While a bone marrow transplant would cost $30,000 in India, doctors in US would charge anywhere between $250,000-400,000 while those in UK would charge $150,000. A cosmetic surgery would cost $3,500 in Thailand, $20,000 in the US and $10,000 in Britain. But in India, it costs only $2,000.

According to the American Medical Association data, a spinal fusion would cost $62,000 in the US, $5,500 in India, $7,000 in Thailand and $9,000 in Singapore.

The report, prepared by member Anwarul Hoda, says: "The hospitals established by private corporate players are world class. They not only have the latest medical technologies, but also the services of Indian doctors and nurses with high degree of proficiency. The hospitals are completely equipped, upmarket and proficient and can measure up or even outshine any hospital in the West."

India also launched in 2006 an accreditation programme for secondary and tertiary hospitals by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH). NABH with 120 qualified assessors on its panel has so far granted accreditation to 11 hospitals and 43 are in various stages of evaluation.

According to the report, the government plans to provide visa facilities on priority for medical tourists. But it highlights how the main impediment for medical tourists coming from the UK and US for major surgeries is the fact that the insurance companies are not willing to cover treatment in India.

"However, the cost savings involved in getting treatment done in India is bound to result in the insurance company imposed barriers breaking down in the future. Already, some hospitals are entering into alliances with international insurance companies for making it possible to send patients to India for treatment," the report says.

Union health minister A Ramadoss had earlier said: "In the last five years, the number of patients visiting India for medical treatment has been rising by 20%. India boasts of the best private-owned hospitals. When it comes to becoming a doctor, India also has some of the stringest criteria. Language is another plus factor - English is widely spoken and most importantly, there are no waiting lists."

Light Emitting Diodes - Recent Breakthrough

Light-emitting diodes are unbeatable in terms of energy efficiency. A one-watt LED delivers roughly the same optical output as a hundred-watt light bulb. If a high light output is required, however, the tiny light sources are not the preferred means of illumination. A novel optical component is set to change that situation. It directs the light to the exact spot where it is needed. In the case of a desk lamp, for instance, the light can be concentrated in such a way that only a DIN-A4-sized surface in the middle of the table is brightly lit. The LED evenly illuminates the required area, while everything else stays in the dark.

“A light-emitting diode is a single-point light source that emits light in a large, uncontrolled area,” says Dr. Christian Wenzel, head of department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT in Aachen. “We use special lenses to direct all of the light to the place where it is needed, thus increasing the efficiency of the LEDs. The spot of light created by the light source does not therefore fade out at the edges, but has a sharply defined edge.”

This channeling of light is based on a free-form system of optics - a plastic lens whose geometry can be shaped in any way desired. “The lenses are cast using an injection-molding technique. The two halves of the tool that serve as a mold have to be aligned with extreme precision just once - they have an accuracy of a few microns, or less than a tenth of the diameter of a hair. Once the tools have been tared, the lens can be manufactured in large batches at low cost,” says Dr. Wenzel. The researchers at the IPT have optimized the entire process chain: from planning and manufacturing the lens systems to checking their accuracy.

“There’s nothing like it anywhere else in Europe,” the expert claims. There is just one challenge that had to be mastered: The plastic, which is inserted into the mold when hot, shrinks as it cools - the finished lenses are therefore slightly smaller than dictated by the mold. The researchers take this effect into account by repeated, gradual improvement - to an accuracy of a few microns. When the lenses are finished, the scientists check them. To do this, they project a pattern of stripes onto the lens. The distortion of the stripes reveals the curvature, inclination and shape of the lens.

Fundamental Processes Of Life Discovered?

080513103957

A team of Canadian researchers has completed a massive survey of the network of protein complexes that orchestrate the fundamental processes of life. In the online edition of the journal Science, researchers from the Université de Montréal describe protein complexes and networks of complexes never before observed -- including two implicated in the normal mechanisms by which cells divide and proliferate and another that controls recycling of the molecular building blocks of life called autophagy.

These processes are implicated in diseases such as cancers and autophagy has recently been shown to be involved in degenerative neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s diseases. The discovery will fill gaps in basic knowledge about the workings and evolutionary origins of the living cell and provide new avenues to explore in linking these fundamental processes to human disease.

The study was led by Stephen Michnick, a Université de Montréal biochemistry professor and Canada Research Chair in Integrative Genomics, along with Université de Montréal co-first authors: Kirill Tarassov, Vincent Messier, Christian Landry and Stevo Radinovic. Collaborators from McGill’s Department of Biology included Canadian genomics pioneer Prof. Howard Bussey and Prof. Jackie Vogel.

"Our team systematically analyzed the interactions of proteins of bakers yeast, a unicellular organism confirmed to provide insight into fundamental processes shared by most living cells including those of humans," explained Prof. Michnick.

New technology makes discovery possible

The examination of protein complexes was made possible by a unique technology developed by Prof. Michnick with his post-doctoral fellows and graduate students. The novel technology allows interactions between proteins to be studied in their nearly natural state in the cell. With this technology, the scientists performed approximately 15 million pair-wise tests to identify about 3,000 interactions between protein pairs.

Since protein-to-protein association largely defines their function, this is a major advancement towards scientific understanding of the inner life of human cells. Thanks to Prof. Michnick’s technology, the researchers also uncovered the architecture of protein complexes -- key information necessary to determine how proteins work together to orchestrate complex biochemical processes.

"The technologies and resources developed for this study can be applied to investigate protein networks in more complex organisms including crop plant and human cells," said Prof. Michnick. "They may also be used to link multiple genes implicated in complex human diseases to common cellular processes. What’s more, applications to diagnostic tests and the development of drugs and antibodies against human cancers can be readily envisioned."

Professor Michnick’s research was supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Institute of Genetics and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). The research was also funded by Genome Canada and Génome Québec.

Your Opinion on "Gender Roles"

Hello, In our Psychology's class we are discussing upon Gender Roles in society. I am actually doing a study upon it and I thought it would be great to post something like this and ask the people around the world on what they think upon this topic. To make it a little easier for you guys to completely understand this question of mine, I have broken it down to four questions and answers so you can have a better view upon what I am asking. Fell free to use the same questions and answer them by giving a comment below.

Do you think gender roles play a significant role in society?

It depends. How great of a "society" are you talking about? The entire globe, inclusive of people in African tribes, Native Americans, people in the Middle East, etc? Also, how great of a time span are you talking about? But the easy and simple answer would be yes,  looking at many content analysis experiments it is clear that gender roles are a major part of society, Children books tend to show females as being indoors and sensitive, while males are shown to be outdoors and in most cases the hero. However, gender roles are changing, for example, Television adverts for male facial moisturizer, now THAT wouldn't have been seen 20 years ago, also many cleaning products advertised on television such as "Cillit Bang" and "Mr Muscle" are advertised by men. So people can go both ways and I would understand where they will be coming from, but for now I would go with yes, because my question involves significantly.

What defines a gender?

To me, Sex and Gender are two seperate things.
Somebodies Sex, is their Biological gender, whether they were born male or female, something that can not be changed.
Somebodies Gender is how they act and how they are percieved within society, For example, A homosexual male, He is Biologically male, but his Gender is more Female due to the way he acts, dresses, speaks etc.
Gender can be altered, Sex cannot

Do you feel that you have been assigned gender roles because of your sex?
I would say yes. Many females say yes because they say that they are brought up by their mothers and therefore they follow what their mothers do. Males often reason, that they find their mothers attractive therefore they label their gender as males.

How does this effect a society or a culture?
It can lead to difficulties, Males being told to refrain from showing too much emotion, and women being underestimated. Since most people are conditioned to think the two primary gender roles (male and female) are the only ones, poor transgendered folk get cut out of the loop, as well as anyone who may simply not be totally conformant to their birth sex.

My comment on what is LOVE

Actually I think there is no such thing as love. What is Love?

A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness.

I think love is effectively related to psychology. It is a combination of things, our environment, influential people, attractive abilities, genetics, community, how you perceive things, what are your sensation, our desire, what is passed on to us from our previous generation, quality of life, satisfaction, seperation from the opposite sex, and us getting used to someone, and I can keep going on and on. Therefore I beleive there is no such thing as love. It doesn't exist you know. The closest you can figure its existence would be a stage. But you know what man, all these qualities of the Love stage exist in only one relationship, mother and her children's relationship.

Now the above paragraph, either you get it or either you don't. The paragraph I am about to write below is something we are all more familiar to and it is the prototype of so-called love.

If someone claims that they cannot live without someone. And they go to the end to make others beleive this. They would not even mind giving up their life. All they want is the one person they love to death (in real meanings). I call this 2 cent, bull shit. Now there are people and in large amounts who do these things. But majority is selfish. They think of their own selves then the so-called love for someone else. For example, every girl loves and commits herself to someone before marriage, but majority tend to marry someone else and they live successful married lives. So as I mentioned above, it is you getting used to the routine. Look let me clarify this a bit more, all one needs is someone beside them at all times, no matter who it is, a sexual partner, physiological needs taken care of, then the money and be able to live expensively. That is all I would like to say as of right now.

This is just my explanation of Love. Share your in comments. Suggest and tell people your beliefs. And do not be hesitant to go against my beliefs. Its a free world baby.

Top 5 Video Uploading and Sharing Services

The number of video-sharing sites has shot through the roof recently, as dozens of companies try to become the Flickr of the online video world.  To this end, many video services have started offering new features like editing and remixability in an attempt to snatch a piece of the ever-expanding online video pie.  But for the average user--who just wants to post a video on the 'net and share it with some friends--there are already too many options out there.  All one really wants to know is, which site is going to work, with the least amount of hassle?

People have several different interest and demands they want accommodated from video sharing sites. Some want to post, watch, share, or edit video online. The five websites below have different features and some of the appealing features you might be interested in.

Google Video

Appeal: It's Google.
Interface: Typically clean and sparse Google layout.  Uploading requires you download the Google Video Uploader.  Allows you to add plenty of metadata, including a transcript.  You can monetize your content by assigning a sale price to each clip (you can also give users a "day pass," giving them access to the content for a limited time, but not ownership).
Editing: None.
Sharing: See below.
Verdict: Google Video requires a "video verification" process, where your submission is reviewed to ensure it conforms to Google's technical standards and legal policies.  This process "may take several days," so check back for an update.

YouTube

Appeal: The video-sharing site everyone's already heard of.  Mindshare-winner by a mile.
Interface: Tabbed pages feature ratings, favorites, flagging, tagging, and commenting.  Create playlists, subscribe to other's uploads, subscribe to tags.  The player only features a mute button (rather than level control), and full-screening the video opens a new window and starts playback over.
Editing:  None.
Sharing: Embed in other websites, including Friendster, eBay, Blogger, MySpace.
Verdict: Easy to use, no major issues.  Decent video quality, audio sounds compressed.  Video embedded in Wordpress fine (but was off-center).  But: No progress bar for uploading.  Fairly lengthy "processing" delay before you (or anyone else) can watch your video.

Jumpcut (Best for editing)

Appeal:
Create, edit, and remix video online.
Interface:  Slick interface feels more like an application than a web page.  Scales all videos to a larger size than other sites, but videos don't autoplay and there is no indication of what portion of the video has already been downloaded.
Editing:  Bar-none the best editing options of the bunch.  Splice your footage, reorder the shots, add music, photos, transitions, even effects--think iMovie in an online interface.  Very, very slick.
Sharing:  Email to a friend, embed in a web page (worked flawlessly in Wordpress).
Verdict: Playing with Jumpcut's features, you immediately understand that the future of online video is here.  No current competitor can touch it.  But:  Get too effects crazy and your video slows down.  Jumpcut doesn't re-render your files with every remix--which leaves the original video quality intact--but playback of edited files is not perfectly smooth. Don't throw out iMovie just yet.

Revver

Appeal:
YouTube with monetization--if people watch your video (and the embedded ad), you get paid 20% of what the advertiser pays Revver.  If they click on the Revver link at the end, you split the proceeds 50/50.
Interace:
Quicktime-based.  Requires you to download a client for uploading content.  Tagging, emailing, rating, playlisting.
Editing:
None.
Sharing: See below.
Verdict: Offers a unique revenue-sharing model that may appeal to content owners and producers.  But: Uploading process is convoluted (the promised drag-and-drop functionality was nowhere to be found).  After trying to upload my file using the Revver client twice, my video was still listed as "unavailable."  I later received an email from Revver stating that my submission may contain unauthorized material that requires clearances--which is true.

blip.tv
Blip.Tv
Appeal: Great look and beta feel. Great community, and promotes your shows, or anything you upload for free.
Interace: It doesn't require any downloads, you may simply upload the video you wish to upload.
Editing: None.
Sharing:  Email to a friend, embed in a web page.
Verdict: When I uploaded my file on Blip.Tv It didn't give me any problems and it is a fast uploading process. I uploaded a video over 30 minutes and it was uploaded in less then ten minutes. But they are a bit strict on copyright, they believe that the hard work you upload should be owned by you.

The actress has posed in a semi-dominatrix outfit, complete with sexy black stockings, a lacy basque and a see-through black shirt, open to reveal her breasts.

She topped off her Vogue look with a black beehive hairdo, reports the Daily Telegraph.

This is not the first time Mendes has stripped off - she appeared completely nude as Denzel Washington’s girlfriend in Training Day.

She also posed nude for I’d Rather Go Naked anti-fur campaign poster for People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) last year.

And she titillated fans in 2007 drama We Own The Night by masturbating on a sofa, wearing nothing but lingerie, in the opening scene.

There are many other incidents of Eva Mendes exposing her breasts and posing completely naked in dramas, shows, modeling, or cameo scenes.

MySpace launches ‘Data Availability’ project

MySpace has launched a new initiative called Data Availability which will allow members to share profile data with other social and community sites across the Web.

Yahoo, eBay, Photobucket and Twitter are partners of this project.

Co-founder and CEO Chris DeWolfe, chief operating officer Amit Kapur, and vice president of technology Jim Benedetto announced the new development in a press call Thursday.

DeWolfe said:

It’s an innovative offering to empower the global MySpace community to share their public profile content and data to websites of choice throughout the Internet.

The program is available to MySpace’s users worldwide.

According to DeWolfe:

Historically, social destinations on the Internet have operated as independent, autonomous islands. Today MySpace no longer operates as an autonomous island on the Internet. We’re hoping to create a significantly more social experience across the Web.”

MySpace rival Facebook had launched its developer program last year but but it is reluctant to partner with other sites outside of allowing them to create developer applications.

The system will use OAuth (Open Authorization) for authentication and currently, OpenID is not supported but it’s a possibility in the future.

JavaScript and server side controls will be released over the next few weeks for partner sites’ administrators to have access to public MySpace data. Benedetto said that MySpace will be “aggressive” to make sure that profile data is not exploited by third parties.

India accuses China of hacking their Websites

After Belgium it’s India’s turn to point fingers at China for hacking and cyber crimes. According to Times of India, the country’s largest circulation daily newspaper, Indian websites particularly Government owned are under attack from China.

It’s been going on for the past one year and attacks are increasing day by day.

The rivalry between India and China whether online or offline is nothing new and it’s been going on for many years. Government sources say they have traced attacks to servers in China. Although they haven’t openly said that the Chinese government is directly responsible but by the looks of it this is what it seems to be. They said the attacking servers are under indirect control of the People’s Liberation Army.

India gave examples of attacks on the National Informatics Centre, the information technology backbone of the Indian government, the Web site of the Ministry of External Affairs, and the web site of the Cabinet secretariat.

According to the report published in Times of India:

Tthe attacks are not isolated incidents of something as generic or basic as hacking. They are far more sophisticated and complete, and there is a method to the madness.

Recently Cabinet Secretariat,Govt.of India website (cabsec.gov.in) came under severe attack and was defaced for several hours.

It is interesting to note when it comes to China every body says that it’s the government responsible with out solid proof. On the other hand in case of other countries particularly western ones, individuals are blamed.

Germany, USA and UK have also blamed China for hacking of their websites. In May 2007 computers of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s office and three of her ministries were hacked into by Chinese hackers. and in September 2007 a confidential Pentagon report alleged that Chinese military hackers had prepared a detailed plan to disable the U.S. aircraft battle carrier fleet with a devastating cyber attack.

The report stated the following three main weapons employed by hackers:

  • Bots
  • Key Loggers
  • Mapping of Indian networks

Microsoft planning to buy Facebook

Wall Street Journal has reported that Microsoft and Facebook are in talks with each other over possible merger.

A Microsoft source claimed that its financial team is in contact with Facebook’s team to see if they are willing to sell or not. The talk is in early stage and no time frame could be given for the deal.

Both companies have been previously working with each other. Microsoft has been brokering banner ads for Facebook since 2006 and acquired full advertising rights last year as part of a $240m investment package. The deal gained headlines when it was revealed that Microsoft would gain only 1.6 per cent ownership in the deal, placing Facebook’s value at upwards of $15bn.

Microsoft declined to comment on Facebook deal.

Just recently they walked away from Yahoo after placing a bid of $44.6 billion. Yahoo declined the offer after a series of negotiations.

Katrina Kaif and Preety Zinta Cheer at an IPL game

Katrina kaif and Preity zinta cheer for their respective teams in Punjab Kings and Vijay Malya Team. I think this is absolutely great to see female stars or female sports fans. In fact, it makes a female even more attractive, at least according to me. But looking at it from a complete diffeent point of view which will be India. It is great, India is the only Southeast Asian country in which the female have a say so, I think India has turned out to be one heck of a Democracy with ral sense of equality in opportunity, competition, and race.

Why is Senetor Clinton still in the race?

I am going to be give a very simple and short answer on this one. Senetor Clinton considers staying in the race so she can:

  • Still have a chance through super delegates
  • Make more money through donations and varous other ways
  • Be eligible or good enough to be strongly consider as a Vice President

But I really think Clinton should quit, because she will only be wasting her money. And only a miracle would get her nominated. And she has secured the Vice President job according to many people. I think it is time Clinton and Obama unite and work as a party.

YouTube goes desi with .in domain

This morning I turned on the TV and changed the channel from ESPN to CNN and I was so amazed to hear and see what I watched on CNN. Official Youtube India has been launched, another success for India and its economy and its rich culture. As soon as I heard this I turned on my Laptop and start to write this amazing update. I searched a lot about it and their have been many rumors regarding this. In fact people have been waiting for this since 2004.

It’s been a long time coming, but it’s finally here. Youtube.in is now live and this can only send jitters down the competition’s spine. But what’s the big deal about YouTube coming around as an India site?
All major portals are present locally to monetise the traffic they get from these countries. And YouTube is now no exception. Similar to Yahoo! India, MSN India, Google India and a slew of others, the idea is to get local advertising to local users. Which in short equals moolah! And YouTube has a good user base in India.

And features? Most main features are present. There is also a ‘view in high quality’ option for videos but I doubt how many would opt for that! It is also interesting to note that the featured videos on the home page do have only Indian videos. And by that, I mean videos by Indian users.

Transform your blog into podcast using autocasting

What is Autocasting?

Autocasting is the term used to refer either service or tool that would automatically convert the text on a blog into speech. Most of these tools / service would read the RSS feed and covert them into speech using their inbuilt Tex-to-Speech (TTS) technology.

Why Autocasting?

Autocasting can be used in conjunction with normal blog that would add more liveliness to users. Podcasting would allow readers to listen to your post while they are working in parallel. Thus it would help the author to convey their complete story to their reader rather than readers scanning the post text.

I have actually tried all of them but only Odiogo was the one that satisfied me.

Recommended services

Odiogo
Odiogo

Odiogo is the latest in the list and is my favorite now. Odiogo embeds listen button into your blog post. The listen now button has a build in MP3 player that would play you the converted audio post. Odiogo monetize they podcasts using sponsored ads, it might be required for them run this service free of cost for blogger. Once you signup for Odiogo you may need to wait for 2-3 days to receive the installation information and the feed url. Installing Ogiogo’s Listen button is simple in WordPress.

Talkr

TalkTalkr service was announced long time back in 2005. It faced a great downfall in entire 2006 and now they are getting better. Talkr is also very similar to Odiogo in the service spectrum. Talkr also lets user to embedded the MP3 with the blog feed and blog site. Talkr also lets the bloggers to monetize their voice feed using sponsored voice ads. Talkr also had statistics page, which gives you information on the audio feed usage. Odiogo lacks the stats part. Talkr also has WordPress plugin to embed Talkr feed into every post.

Other services - Try yourself

Also you can try out the below service but I’m not recommending them due to lack of few features / usability reason. The below listed are still in beta stage and hope they have room for their improvement.

BlueGrind(not for people in the U.S)

BlueGrid seems to be relatively new service with lot of bug in their interface. They allow you to listen to podcast using play list you can choose them from their list. You can either submit the content to BlueGrid as text or as blog itself. BlueGrid also has instructions to embed the content into your blog.

Feed2Podcast

Feed2Podcast is simple service that will convert any Feed into postcast. You just need to provide the feed url. Feed2Podcast lacks option to embed the content directly into blog post; rather it provides option to user their player to listen your audio content.

What are some problems with Autocasting?

Text to Speech (TTS) technology is not evolved completely but it is improving. The pronunciations of English standard words have improved a lot. The auto-generated voice might not be the same for foreign names, acronym, emotion used and other non-standard English text. Still it has a long way before it can actually understand what it reads.

Have you tried any of these services? Voice your thoughts.

Good news for Internet Addicts

Bill Gates, during a meeting with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, said there will be a vast shift in the internet over the next decade.

Quote:

"We're approaching the second decade of (the) digital age," the software mogul and philanthropist told Lee at the start of their meeting at the presidential Blue House, according to a media pool report. "The Internet has been operating now for 10 years," Gates said. "The second 10 years will be very different."

Let me throw a joke here: Is he even going to be around in the upcoming decade.

Can Kobe Really Jump Over A Moving Car?

The Young Turks discuss and debate upon whether Kobe can really pull this off or not. Check out this video.

My Opinion:

Hell yes, Kobe can do it. He certainly has the ability to do it, in fact many of young athletes are capable of doing this. But this of course was fake because he is a 200 million player owned by the Los Angeles Lakers, who would not even risk him playing the All Star game if he has an injury, they sure would not let him jump over the car.

But you know what guys, I do think this is going to have a bad reaction to the kids and young athletes, mostly teenagers. As I mentioned above many people do have the ability to do this, and when an icon like Kobe Bryant does something like this people eventually follow.
