Firefox Download Record Attempt Crashes Server
Mozilla's attempt to break the record for most downloads in a 24-hour period hit a snag when an influx of users trying to download the new Firefox 3.0 web browser crashed the company's server.
What began as a prideful marketing ploy hit a snag only 20 minutes after the 1 p.m. Eastern time zone launch as numerous people reported broken links and 404 pages. Meanwhile, tech bloggers almost immediately deemed the PR stunt an "Epic FAIL."
A spokesperson from Mozilla maintained that the company would still be able to successfully complete a record 5 million downloads of the Firefox browser in a day.
Coincidentally, Asylum is attempting to break the pornography downloading record, but our attempts keep getting thwarted by knocks at the door and an overwhelming sense of guilt.
